As far as I'm concerned, You Tube is interesting solely because it allows us to revisit and disseminate Great Moments of Popular Culture that would have otherwise died on VHS. Here now, is Harmony Korine on David Lettermen:

My favorite part:

Dave: How much does this [Harmony's "novel", A Crack-Up At The Race Riots] go for?
Harmony: I think it's regular book price ... I can't imagine why anyone would buy a book these days.

I love this kid. Love him.

I saw him at the press screening for Julien Donkey Boy at the '99 New York Film Festival. He was standing at the back of the theater with Chloe Sevigny as I was walking out, and the little guy looked like he wanted to cry because the critics were moaning, cursing and laughing at what they just saw. I just smiled at him, gave him a nod and a peace sign.

I wanted to say, "No sweat, man. These assholes have no idea what a film is. You're the next Herzog." But I figure he knew (knows) that already.

I love him, too, and I love "Jullien Donkey-Boy." But if I was Harmony Korine, I would NEVER show up at a press screening. Hopefully at some point, someone told him, "Look, dude, you're not going to win over anyone who already hates you at the Q & A -- stay home and let your fans set your detractors straight."
